Centers and Institutes are a key component to the research program at Virginia Tech. The College is host to several university-, college-, and departmental-based centers linked to the left. Some CAUS research projects are not affiliated with research centers, but are still just as important to help obtain the university’s goal to acquire Top 30 research institute status.
In '02, the College was awarded $7.2M in sponsored funding for the year. This exceeded ‘01 awards by $1.7M (a 38 percent increase) and exceeded funding levels attained in each of the past 10 years. This level of external support permitted the College to offer more research assistantships to more graduate students than ever before.
