Drawing Aids

1.    Check for duplicate entities and delete them. This saves much wasted cutting time.

2.    Explode all AutoCAD blocks.

3.    Separate cutting and scoring operations on different layers.

4.    When creating lettering, use the Rhino program. Use the Text tool to write with. Select a font, tell it to write as “curves”

and specify a text height. Arrange the text where you want it in the drawing (move, rotate etc.) Save the .dxf file as AutoCAD version 2004, check “Project to plane”, uncheck “Use simple entities”, leave everything else as is.

Transferring Your File

In order to put your file on the PC connected to the LaserCAMM, you will need to save or export it as a .dxf file depending on what software you are using. Always save your work to a PC-formatted floppy, Zip disk, Jump Drive , or CD which you should label with your name and e-mail address in case it is forgotten in the LaserCAMM room.  The names of layers within your drawings should also follow this format.
