Dear AIAS Members,

Responding to a request from one of our fellow AIAS members at our last
meeting, we are going to try and implement an AIAS architecture mentor program
this semester. The plan is to match up first and second year architecture
students with 3rd, 4th and 5th year students in order to foster relationships
across the years. This gives the younger students someone they feel comfortable
talking to regarding anything from their studio projects to studio professors to
class scheduling concerns, and the older students a chance to share the
knowledge they've gained over their years here at Virginia Tech CAUS. We were
planning on setting this up beginning next school year, so that these bonds can
be formed over an entire year, but since there was a lot of interest at our last
meeting, we decided to give it a try this semester.

So, if you are a first or second year and are interested in being a mentee,
or a third, fourth, or fifth year student interested in being a mentor, please
email me at jbeilman@vt.edu with 'AIAS Mentor Program' in the subject line. I
just want to get an idea of how many people are interested and once I get that
list together we can have a meeting discussing the logistics of this program.
But for now, please email me by Friday, February 13 if you are interested in
being a mentor/mentee. Please include your name, email address, year, and
studio professor. Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.
