Yang Zhang organized roundtable at conference in Beijing, China

Yang Zhang, assistant professor of urban affairs and planning the School of Public and International Affairs, College of Architecture and Urban Studies, co-organized a research roundtable at the fourth U.S.-China Relations: Looking Ahead after 30 Years conference in Beijing, China, from October 21 to 23. Zhang's research roundtable was on "Disaster Resiliency in US and China: Toward a Framework for Comparative Disaster Research." The participants included scholars from four U.S. institutions: University of Illinois, Texas A&M University, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and Virginia Tech; two top research universities in China: Peking University and Beijing Normal University; and the Taiwan National Disaster Reduction Research Center. The group developed a plan for research collaboration, a joint training program, and a potential joint research center based in Peking University.
